Happy Birthday Singapore!

me taking my new fb/ msn dp!

Happy National Day to all you Singaporeans out there! And Happy Birthday to my homeland... :D

So I kinda just got back about an hour ago from our own mini celebration @ La Trobe. Lucky for us Glenn ppl, the celebration was held at one of Glenn's teaching rooms! heh. So we had catering from "The Old Raffles Place," which I think, we all looked forward to just cos it's Singapore food. The selection includes: Hainanese Chicken Rice, Satay, Chap Chye, Chicken Wings, Carrot Cake, Char Kway Teow.. and drinks of teh tarik and bandung!! Dessert : Chendol! I wouldn't say the food was awesome, but hey! Not like we can find these food just about anywhere here, so it's gotta do. :P

Realised just how many Singaporeans there were attending La Trobe, considering not everyone was present tonight. Altho it's still not many compared to the likes of Melbourne Uni I believe. Were about.. 70(? seemed like less) ppl there tonight. Anyway, they didn't manage to get hold of the promised amount of goodie bags, thanks to some sponsors being weird. so we just had 20. and they were given out as lucky draw prizes, which is all very good cos we were lucky lucky! Amanda qimin and i sat together at the last row, and all 3 of us managed to get a goodie bag each! All pink ones haha. the bag looks like a crumpler but can be turned into a tote. It's pretty cool! And i love the heart shaped torches this year!! Only downside was we didn't have the appropriate batteries for it so we didn't light them up. The drums were cute with little "mr beans" as drumsticks. I got pocket tissue! major happiness lol, they don't exist here! Got gummies from the natural confectionery as well.. and a book of vouchers.. which we can't use cos we're here lol! Anyone wants? I can mail it back for u!! :P not too bad vouchers really. Oh yea, we had the temp tattoos too, haha. sponsored by eu yan sang of all companies. XP twas argued they were herbal tattoos. lol

Watched the Live Webcast. Emotional me of course had some near-tear-jerking events. But managed to hold it all back haha. My favourite part must be the pledge-taking in one voice. I imagine everyone at the parade, at home, in the malls, all over the world, all taking the pledge as one identity: Singaporean. Maan.. and the anthem playing regally after that was also nice cos we sang along. haha. Photos below!

Before the event started: Me, Amanda, Jerilyn, Qimin

Arrival of MM Lee. Feels like he's right there! lol

Look! Another Lee that does Lees proud, unlike some I know lol. kiddin.
PM Lee waving happily!

Lucky Us and our drums/drumsticks!

Oh yes! There was a section with overseas students pledging their love!! So many London, Beijing students! Berkeley also, what about us?!?! Sadness! I want!! haha. I saw several familiar faces on those I think.. couldn't catch the Berkeley people tho, it was too fast. And I thought I saw my bro on screen live at the parade! hahaha.

Another early morning tmr.. so I better get some rest now. I had some new creations yesterday/today! I posted two of them up on etsy hehe. trying etsy out. before i decide if i wanna continue on LJ.. http://dsparkle.etsy.com Any Singaporeans out there if interested, I'll sell at the same price in SGD! Just gotta pay for the shipping as well, which won't be THAT expensive, not to worry. I'm just afraid they might be overpriced to the younger crowd.. but they really took time and effort! And don't forget, they're one-off!
