Hot deal!

I'm getting quite excited at the idea of being back in SG.. and i certainl wanna holiday outside of SG too. Dad asked me if i wanna go back to our hometown in China. Guess I don't mind, see where that goes... And I'll wanna fly to perhaps TW/HK. Dad thinks they are boring (yes, so dad..) SO, I can either 1. convince my dad to go, or 2. Fly there myself and meet up with friends to go along! :D Naturally TW and HK.. i've just the right ppl in mind. but i dunno if they're free.. doubt it. We'll see.

Anyway, there's also this deal.. for a very short trip. To Batam. Heard it from Amanda. It's one of those spa getaways deal. Purely for enjoyment and relaxation. Never been on one, but i suppose i'm feeling old enough to need to relax. lol. It was a pdf file, but i screen-shot it so that i can put it up here.. (shouldn't be illegal, it's promotional material right??)

Sleeping late (think 2-3 am or later) is ALWAYS a bad idea and gives horrendous results regardless how many hours u actually get to sleep after?

Technically one should sleep at 11 latest. Apparently there's a prime period where your body optimally rests and repairs stuff (like your skin). Well, I slept a whole lot of hours this morning and still feel tragically beaten up, and i hypothesise it's cos i slept at 3? and at 4 the night(or morning) before. And now i'm actually a little sick, and i think i'm not the only one on my floor... ha.

I've been really bad to myself. I think you're probably all guilty of that too. Some more than others...-cough- Sleep more!! :D I'm going to bed real soon, about to collapse. Argh.

Oh yea, but not before sharing this...

Read them. They're a continuation of stories. Ridiculous! i just wonder... how's Jaycee Dugard now? She must still not be mentally much older than she was when she was kidnapped, that makes her little more than 11?! and she's in fact already 29. gosh. And what about the 11 and 15 year old girls she mothered? They've never known life outside of that backyard. Do they speak? I mean, seriously. And the nerve of that couple to plead innocent!

Red.Yellow.Green.

Last night's eagle bar night was a traffic light theme. You know the drill. Green = Single and available. Yellow= Complicated? Red=Attached/Taken of course.

One can always do variations of their own and do their own interpretation of course. I was meant to be red, and I put on a blue half-cardi jacket to beat the cold. APPARENTLY, it looks green in the dark (i.e. at eagle bar) cos James (Di Mascolo) said I looked like i was celebrating Xmas. HAHA. I wouldn't do red/green like that. pfft. Anyway, our outfits below: They were really yellow. haha. Mandy went with us to the entrance but decided not to go in after knowing we had to pay entrance fees. I'm red cos, I don't want any drama please. NO. (yet some drama's always unavoidable argh.) Anyway, I won't say I'm available.. that's just not how i feel now.


 
Argh i think the daph collage is a bit too tall, I can't get it to full size, which is twice that. HAHA. That's alright. still visible I suppose. Makes it less um. extravagant too haha.

Have u ever felt this way...?

You wished some people would confide in you.
You wish you could be the pillar of support for someone.

That you can be the first one to hear about their day and be there when they're down.

And there are probably times when you're down and feel like you really wanna share it with him/her, but something just holds you back. You wonder: Do they care enough? Are they interested? Are we burdening them? This probably means somehow not enough trust and concern has been shown/established that makes you confident that this somebody will really be able to be there for you. You wish you didn't have to feel so vexed and confused even as you're already depressed. On top of that, it makes you just feel more alone. Same goes for joy. You wanna share happy news! Something trivial maybe, but just so yay! But u duno if that person is just as excited. And u think "nahh.. that's just stupid."

Then you think, perhaps somebody out there feels this way about you. They want to share their joy and sadness with u but do not dare to. ):

I miss the initial excitement! The magical connection. The comfort and familiarity from the start... that made everything feel right yet special. haha and the fiery passion. Damn!! Haven't thought so much about this lately, but somehow someone managed to surface in my mind consistently last night.

What can i say? Study hard girl. Go do your assignments! (ha. we all need reality checks yea?)

Anti-glenn or racism?

Just did my laundry today and there's a new sign put up. I do wonder who put them up. Some very humorous person. Well, I'm pretty sure they were not really meant to be funny, but they just turn out to be. I don't rmb the exact words of the last one, but sth like "Hey guys, this is NOT your extra wardrobe space, so please take your clothes!!" (ppl tend to wash their stuff and forget about them. dried or not. and they get stuffed into the shelves that we have here. the laundry room isn't v big too. maybe i shld post a pic some day..)

The one put up now says "Hey guys it's time now to remove your stuff our of the laundry again. It has gotten a bit full and smelly thanks." LOL. mind you, it IS smelly. I think it's like washed clothes that were forgotten and left to dry in a heap squashed into one of the shelf boxes. OR it could be that some people enjoy shoving shoes into the washer. rah. and my room is right outside the laundry room.. haha

There was one on the fridge last sem as well. Forgot if it's still there (runs to check), nope not there anymore. That was sth along the lines of "The deepest and darkest realm of hell is reserved for people who steal others' food, so don't fucking do it!" ha. the food was returned tho. i know that story. shan't elaborate here tho.

Alright enough with the signs. While waiting for my clothes to be washed, shall blog about the incident at dinner. So today as usual, the international students stayed on at the dining hall till pretty late. and we were pretty much the last ones left there. We usually take our time and stay to chat even after our meals..

So we sat pretty near the outside of glenn. And there are windows there. It's usually really dark at dinner time so u don't get to see stuff outside. While we were chatting away, suddenly there was a "clang" sound and when I turned I saw glass shards on the floor and a hole in the window. Qimin, who was just to my left, was the nearest and she said she felt a piece of glass gently scrape her leg. (she's thankful for thick skin, i quote) Well, nobody was hurt. And we didn't manage to find the stone (presumed to be one), guessed it bounced off while managing to crack the glass.. someone said they saw a person dressed in white make a run for it. *shrugs*

So there're a few theories. One. Racists. We're after all an entire table of 20-odd internationals... what better time to protest. but they must've really observed us cos.. I don't really think u can see us clearly from the outside.. but I could be wrong.

Two. Anti-glenn ppl from other colleges. Just for fun. Just being stupid. why not?

Three. Sabotage of open day that is to happen on Sunday. Ruin any property and whatever to just spoil the great facade they put up on sunday? i don't know.

Speaking of which, brunch will be 9-11am this sunday at the bistro instead of dining hall (and it used to go till 12?) because of the open day. And we're advised to keep our room doors closed at all times and look out for visitors wandering around on their own and get them into a grp. Just beware of ur stuff and surroundings (: The laundry room will be a sight to behold, I reckon. Cos i don't think that sign is gonna change very much. :P Not especially if the owners of those clothes are perhaps home for the weekends. oops.

i should be a panadol spokesperson.

Once again plagued by my period cramps. ): T'was pretty bad today. And I tried to sleep it off, but I woke up barely half an hour into my sleep and had to consciously deal with it instead. Pulled myself up and decided to be more constructive. Made myself a late lunch (was really instant noodles). Then it got so painful that I decided I'll pop another panadol in.

Now in my recent trip back to Singapore, I bought a pack of panadol actifast. I remember staring at the rack of pills and thinking, now now which ones should I get? Panadol adult/ panadol cold is always available at home, and I never realised they were not really that cheap. In fact, I also never realised they had that many TYPES of panadol. What I recall now is Normal panadol, panadol cold, panadol EXTRA, panadol menstrual, panadol (cold sachets) for dissolving in liquids and panadol actifast. I thought long and hard, and decided that I should give actifast a try. Considering usually i feel the painkiller effect always takes place a little too late. (i.e. when i'm already rolling in cold sweat on my bed, or worst somewhere else), I thought maybe this would be the most effective. Oh yes, I've tried menstrual, extra and normal for it.. and my verdict is none works better than actifast.

Actifast comes a bit more expensive than the normal ranges as there are less pills per box as well. However, my feeling is, after consuming a few times, that the effect really comes much faster than the other varieties. Before, I had to anticipate the pain and pop pills before the pain even occurs, that usually resulted in many "false alarms" and me taking way too many panadols than i really should've. (which is by common sense, not good at all) So this is good, cos it worked pretty fast to stop the cramping today even though it'd already started. This is good since I got to be much more productive, way better than having to lie in bed all day.

Of course, it is NOT within my advice for everyone to start relying on painkilling products for all kinds of pain. Let me just say mine can be of the extreme sort, and I do try not to take pills unless necessary. But yes, I'm just more unlucky, and perhaps less healthy (?) to have this problem.. and somehow all other remedies seem to work on a very random basis. And i guess another disclaimer would be, I don't take painkillers for most other ailments. in fact, i don't recall having any other kinds of physical pain that require me to resort to pills. o.O But yea, I'm no stranger to panadol. And I think I should be some kinda amabassador to endorse their products lol!

If you have similar problems, u can share remedies or ask questions. Heating packs usually work too. And I take evening primrose oil..

short update turned this-and-thats

Another short update. ha. [edit] it won't be as short as i expected lol [/edit] At least they're more frequent. Today I got visitors from Australia, Singapore, Mexico, Thailand, Philippines, US and Malaysia. Ooh~ Why hello there! Even though I still haven't quite figured out how they got here.. and nobody's doing my polls nor commenting. humph. haha.

Anyways, I'm happy enough for visitors. Thanks also to Yietze for her plug in one of her latest post about sesame street inspired accessories. I baked some cookie monster cupcakes a few months back.

In quite a chirpy mood now 'cos I have finally printed the final copy of my team's Bio enquiry. Glad to have been of good help and it felt really satisfying compiling everything (: It helps too, of course, when I have helpful teammates who are always available to help me. Makes the work so much easier!

Also watched another Scorsese film: Taxi Driver. (you can find it on youtube.) It's a very slow-paced movie, rather psychotic as well. But that's its charm. Robert Deniro was still so young then, and I think he actually looked a bit like Milo Ventimiglia at certain angles. Deniro proves to be such a crazy good actor.. Scorsese himself appears in this film, and in a scene which I find quite poignant as he was acting and yet still "directing" DeNiro, or his character to be more exact. I can start on my essay real soon!

And what i wanted to blog about initially. which would have made this truly a short update... we had floor dinner today! I don't really have grp pictures. just me in my outfit. XP The photos of ppl and food are on someone else's cam. Will do that update another time.

I'm looking quite chubby in the face here. haha. n my boots were cut, but they weren't really fabulous anyway :P That bag is a black "lil boxy" purchased from http://ownabag.blogspot.com/ Min liked it (: Had another coat on when we got out cos the winds are real strong today and it was cold! We had emails from the school warning us about the Victorian winds today and asking people to be safe and try to stay indoors. So instead of taking the trams, we had people drive us out in groups. Luckily we had enough cars and drivers to go around our floor. :D Thanks Ben! There were also warnings on electricity disturbances, but that didn't happen here. I'm thinking the internet connection got a bit choppy just before this though..

Oh! Got my two "parcels" today, one expected (bought stuff for someone's surprise haha) and another that I didn't expect... why? Cos it's about.. 4 months late! My dad sent me this security suite CD in April and we thought it was lost to the world somehow, somewhere.. and I got it.. today?! ahaha.

Vanity vanity.

I've been checking my nuffnang analytics religiously cos I'm always curious who reads my blog. Most of my readers come from Singapore, and then some from Australia. Once in a while, I'd get UK readers or US readers, which I can kinda understand since I do have friends that could possibly be reading from these places. The last 2 days tho, I've got visitors from Canada, U.A.E, Philippines and Colombia! I wonder how and why. I'm thinking it's cos i blogged abt Miss Universe a few posts back? But there were no keywords or referrals logged to suggest how they got here. But anyway, it's interesting (: Hello all!

So last thurs, I went to Eagle bar despite swearing not to the previous week. Ana somehow manages to work her charm on me every thursday night! Haha.. I bought a Marilyn Monroe poster that day and Amanda and i were just looking at the poster then I mentioned I brought a pair of falsies from SG that are longer at the ends, so they look like Monroe's lashes!

She got all excited (and so did I) and so we decided to finally put them to work! haha. So yea, Amanda came along to the bar cos I painstakingly helped her with her lashes and she just loves the dolly eyes. Qimin did the preliminary makeup, then I did the gluing and then touching up plus more lining of the eye and the works! Unfortunately her lids seem to fold unevenly and so one side looked more curly than the other, but still it looked great (: I put the Marilyn pair on, but perhaps my lids did not take to the glue so well, it came off in no time. Annoyed. haha. Beatrice tells me of "Duo" and in black. Well, hopefully that'd work on me. ha. If not I've a good mind to pass these on to Amanda cos her falsies stayed on all night! They love her! haha. Ana insists she's jealous but we say, Shush girl! You've naturally long and curly lashes! haha.

So last saturday, I went with Mandy to have pancake parlour lunch @ Northland. (might have photos soon) Initial plan was to grocery-shop. But that kinda failed cos we were lured into nail shops --" We got so caught up with the idea of acryllic nails (just curious. have u done those before??) I really wanted to do those with 3d nail art, with all the ribbons, lace, crystals and fluff. But mainly on the thumb cos it's a bit extreme for uni lol. But sadly, it's not the trend here so I couldn't do that haha.

Mandy got to do her Acrylic french with silver lining. I like hers. really classic and nice. I left my design largely to the guy.. but i chose transclucent tips.. which um.. turns out, reveals my natural nails underneath. HAHA. but Mandy likes mine. and so did the other customers next to me. they were like stealing glances. or actually blatantly staring and one of them even asked to take a closer look. The guy doing my nails seemed impressed with himself too lol.

Verdict after.. 3 days? First of all, I obviously wondered how I was gonna take out my lenses that day. I managed to, after a fair bit of effort. But I'm not putting on my lenses for this week I think... just cos of these nails. And the length is also impeding my using of the touch screen phone as well as this keyboard on my lappie. But ur "nails" are much stronger so I suppose u can um, use them for more tasks? Altho they can be a bit too big/thick for other more detailed tasks u could do before that u now cannot. I guess a good thing is the pattern doesn't get scratched off as the acrylic and gel is layered on top of the nail art paint.

I wouldn't continue having them tho, I plan to soak them off soon enough. When I feel they've lived their worth haha. And I won't do them again in the near future cos i think i'd rather have healthy natural nails. BUT, I'd do acrylic/gel again if I get to do all those fancy 3D designs popularised by jPop stars like Ayumi haha. possibly back in sg.. or maybe HK?? :P Feel like travelling.. maybe before going back SG? or just during SG trip home..

Managed to scramble for some items at Safeway before taking the bus back. Didn't finish my shopping list. But I managed to get my facial tissues, mints, and ...

Chewable Vitamin C! haha. didn't realise it said "cold relief" on it, but i think it just means that is one of its benefits. which is good since i've such a sensitive nose and all..

Still in want of my kimchi noodles and the yummy maggi cup noodles in "Mushroom and peppered steak" flavour. Maggi has proven its worth to me once again after that many years. I want more fruits but I've no fridge to keep them.. yet I'm not eating them vehemently cos I'm testing out the hypothesis that having fruits after a meal or in close proximity to a meal will cause bloating and like un-smooth digestion. I seem to bloat less. But this requires further experimentation haha. Anyway, Mandy is free tmr and agreed to go shop groceries for me, hooray!

My tummy's churning or feels really queasy. so i've been popping random food objects in. but it's only getting worse. better sleep. and i'm gonna turn off that dryer now. it's really annoying... and hello ppl. it's 12am! u might've fallen asleep n forgotten abt it. cos u can't hear it. but I freaking can!!!
